Wow! It is term 4, and we are finishing the year off with some musical madness! We are going to leap into writing by creating some exciting recounts about our immersion assembly.

WALT: recount an event in a descriptive and engaging way

We need to think about:
  • Who our audience is.
  • How we are going hook this audience in.
  • How we are going to create a description of the event which makes our audience feel like they were at the event too.
  • How we are going to keep our audience interested as they read.

AMAZING!! What a great 2 weeks of holidays we had, to bad it had end like that, but luckily we're back at school and let’s have some fun with it. It’s term 4 and now our theme is called MUSICAL MADNESS so this term were learning about music and how music is made. First of all as I tell you all the time here at Pt England School we have this thing that is called Immersion Assembly it’s when us kids are having fuN in the holidays and the teachers are planning a video or act to show us what we are gonna be doing this term here is what I saw at Immersion Assembly.




At Immersion assembly we had Team 1 perform for us they stood up on stage and played snap also played some music the music was peaceful but suddenly it got Terrifying so the teachers started looking around then one teacher said “I’m scared let’s get out of here’’ “ here let me change the music” said another teacher, so then the music changed it sounded like circus music so then the teachers got FUNNY  so they started getting up and doing funny dances.after all that fun they bowed down and went off the stage.




It’s time for TEAM 2! For team 2’s performance it was a act they were wearing funny clothing like mohawk wigs,sunglasses and colorful bow ties the first teacher went up the stage first she was wearing a rainbow Mohawk she was holding a ukulele she played the song called In The Jungle she played the ukulele and sang as she did the second teacher came up and she had a xylophone she joined the first teacher as they played the third teacher came up and joined them she had a set of bongos it sounded really cool like a band it was incredible.the fourth teacher came up she had a really amazing maracas.after their amazing show it was time for team 3.






For Team 3 video they did Real Life Songs it was hilarious,it had the most funniest songs as the movie was finished it was time for team 4.for team four’s movie it was an incredible,laughable, movie. They were in the car dancing with wigs and musical instruments like maracas,congas, and drumsticks. it was magnificent I haven't seen anything like it. TEAM 5’s item was a act where it was movie night the teachers sat on the big couch and pretend like they were a nice family having a movie,they had popcorn then laid back and relaxed.The movie was the Lion King it was a short tape to make it look like they all ready finished watching the movie as they said it was a great movie the movie started all over again but with a Creepy sound effect then the sound changed with circus music then the music kept on changing and changing until the sound stopped and the teachers got up and bowed the whole point of this story was about is that how music can make you feel so really this is all about emotions.

The Drama Show Recount story

It was a beautiful Tuesday morning I could hear lovely birds singing and birds  chirping but suddenly I looked the clock and it was 8:58 o,clock  ‘’ahh! I’m late’’ I said so I ran as quickly as I can got my uniform on ate my breakfast brushed my teeth said bye to my parents then walked to school. After all that I was in class we were having SSR it stands for Super Silent Reading,after SSR we got called to go to our literacy mats so we sat down while my beautiful teacher named Miss West was explaining the instructions of what we are about today so she said we were going a little video about trying to act without talking so we watched a video about Mr Bean and his invisible drums,as we watched we all started laughing out loud.





After all that laughter Miss West explained why we were watching the video, anyway she told us to go outside and line up so we did.as we marched to the humongous field. So we rounded ourselves in a huge circle as we did Miss West was about to choose a person so she chose Marika she went in the center of the circle then Miss west told her to act out a scene so she did so Miss West shouted out FREEZE then she told another random person to come and change the act so they did then Marika had to go out of the circle and let someone else to have a turn so it went on and on until Miss West said we are going to do something different Miss West told us to get in a pair of four three two or one.I got into a pair of three with my best friends Mamarei and Jedida.






We had to make up a frame then freeze as our teacher said we had to guess what they were doing the first team went and one person guessed that they were ballroom dancing but guessed wrong so another person came up and said they were playing volley ball and it was right turned out that the two people were using their hands for the net and the other two people were playing we played more and lots more but then it started to rain so we ran to class and we had to write about what we did so that was fun!

Flight Of The Bumblebee

Today room 10 had a great experience with music as we listened to the sound of the song that was called the Flight Of The Bumblebee .the sounds sounded like a bumblebee so we drew pictures that explained how it told a story as the song went on.the song went sounding a little quiet then it went all loud as if the bumblebee was being chased, it was really a great experience.

Teacher Miss West has a very suspicious look on her face I wonder what she was trying to tell me.

The bell rang like wild so it was time to read a book we call it ssr it stands for super silent reading for 5 minutes.after 5 minutes rm 10 went outside I wonder about what are gonna do?

Miss West said ‘’ we are going to play a game’’ she said ‘’with counters’’ she said again we get one counter each we lay the  counter on our elbow put our other hand behind our backs then we flick the counter high as you can and catch it without catching it with your other hand that is behind your back.


as soon as you catch the first counter you get another one to make it harder to catch after that one you get another and another counter and it will keep on going like that after when the challenge was finished we got to see who got the most it was incredible!

Welcome back! Who is excited for this term?! We are going to leap into writing by creating some exciting recounts about our immersion assembly!

Hooray!! What amazing holidays we had but to sad it had to end,but the good thing about it was going back to school and getting to learn,share,and create so that is what Pt England School is going to do . so on the first day of the term we went to a thing called Immersion assembly.



It’s a thing that the teachers do over the holidays so they put in a lot of effort into this assembly sure it doesn’t sound like a holiday to the teachers but it sounds a lot of fun! So our theme  for this term is ‘’Now that’s thinking’’ first of all we saw Team 1’s short movie clip about Matariki and  kites it was awesome.


After team 1 was team 2 I wonder what it will be?  Well team 2’s movie clip it was similar to team 1’s movie clip.next was Team 3! It was about  a matariki story about a sky that no stars at night it was so dark you could hardly see anything but only the thing that could move was the Taniwha.


so from that day on this man called Maui was awoken from his sleep. Maui got his waka and his oar and went down to the sea soon later on Maui saw that it was getting dark and he was tired so he came out with his waka and had a little nap beside the beach.

soon Maui had woken up and it was dark he saw there were no stars in the sky so he could not see anything Maui tried to find some rocks to throw up in sky as high as he could to get the star's attention.


 so they can shine his way out, so Maui threw his last rock as high as he could it made it up,up,up into the sky the stars saw the  rock and they came out to shine there light ‘’yahoo!’’ said Maui ‘’we have light now'' shouted Maui with joy.

team 4! we are learning about how are technology are gonna change over time and how it can be used for in life or how it can be used to solve a problem in times of need so we had these Ideas about what we can learn about so that is what team 4 is going to do learn about how are technology are have to change or not change over time.

Team 5! team 5 is learning about how things can be problems can be solved with wood,steel,cotton,and all kinds of tools they solved a problem about bags how bags can't stay on the floor so they figured out to use a long piece of wood a nail and a bag so they hammer the nail to the wood and hanged on the bag to the nail.so that is what team 5 is learning about.

  • Maui and the Giant Fish
Retell/ summaries the myth/ legend IN YOUR OWN WORDS.
This should not be long. Think of how long your voice over needs to be.
One day a man called Maui was angry that his brothers didn’t let him go fishing with them so Maui went by himself. so while Maui was out at sea he said it was a good spot so he grabbed his hook and rope and threw it deep deep into the sea. Then Maui  waited and waited until whoop whoop! Something was pulling on the rope. Maui stood up and pulled the rope as hard as he could. then the giant fish rose up to the top of the sea like a gigantic floating fish. When Maui's brothers saw Maui they ran up and were amazed! after a few days Maui fish became the North Island of Aotearoa.

YEAR 5/6 CAMP!!

Year 5/6 Camp - Writing

Amazing! Team 4 had a cool camp on Pt England School grounds, on wednesday 8th of march 2017 last week. first we had to bring our big bags for camp. throughout the 3 days that we had for activities.

The first camp activity that the Chiefs had to do was the camp concert,kayaking,killer zone but my favorite most fun event was going to the pools it was the best 3 days of my LIFE!!(:

My favorite highlight was how we got to have fun and play with our friends also got to know people that I didn’t know and how I got  to be friends with them.
I learned how to be kind ,loyal,and friendly to people that were bringing kindness back to me I recommend that every student will do by helping each other and other people will learn to do that in the future. Also it was fun to work as a team and help those in need.
Thank you Mr burt and teachers who made this  possible for school and thank you to the parents/helpers who came to help our camp and supported the camp so thank you very much:) .  what I liked about camp was it was fun and exciting to do all those activities it was such awesomeness.  THANK YOU!!!!!

Amazing! Team 4 had a cool camp on Pt England School grounds, on wednesday 8th of march 2017 last week. first we had to bring our big bags for camp. throughout the 3 days that we had for activities.

It all started off at class when the bell rang bling! Bling!. We were sitting on the big mat that was when rm 9 had left the rm to go to kiwi sport then we rm 10 Miss west told us to stand up so we did.   


As we were standing Miss west put us into groups I liked  how I  Get put into groups.when I was put into a group we had to tangle each of our arms have to touch each other’s arm it was fun!


I got very tired of walking all around  so I got my drink bottle and had a drink...after all that we had one more round of untie the human knot it started to get a little boring but then miss west

stopped the game she announced the winners it wasn’t  my team but unless that good team won it’s not about winning it’s about fun and friendship.

When I arrived at pt England school I was walking to class I saw my teachers Mrs West and Mrs Buchanan. After a while the bell rang RIIIIIING! After the bell rang we had a team 4 assembly. The took a while but it was fun! So after that our teachers told us to go to our literacy class. at  literacy class our teacher


Mrs west told us to go put our shoes on and make a line  outside and then we went to the field to take our new pictures for our blog. As we were there I could smell  the air and burning wheat on the other side of the gate.I could hear birds singing and loud wind.




I could not taste nothing but air running through my mouth.I touched soft feathers the hard ground and prickly pines.what I saw large trees a smelly creek also petty blooming flowers and clean grass.
